Clean Energy Convergence & Livelihood Strategy — Maharashtra & Meghalaya

Designed a convergence framework linking clean energy access with micro-enterprise operations, MSRLM schemes, and regional financing systems.

Context

Rural micro-enterprises in energy-deficient regions operate within fragmented ecosystems- where existing SHG networks, government schemes (MSRLM, PMFME), and decentralised renewable energy (DRE) technology providers exist but are not structurally aligned.

Challenge

Absence of a convergence framework to link energy access with rural enterprise operations, subsidies, and institutional financing — results in disconnect between energy availability and enterprise growth limiting scalability and income potential.

Socion's Role

Strategic advisory and Designed convergence framework integrating clean energy, enterprise, and financing systems

Approach

Ecosystem Mapping

Mapped existing SHG networks, DRE technology providers, and applicable government scheme structures

Convergence Framework Design

Structured an integrated model linking clean energy systems with micro-enterprise operations, MSRLM and PMFME offices, and regional banking institutions

Field validation & Multistakeholder Alignment

Validated program model through partnerships with Ignisia Foundation, TERI and UNDP to assess scalability across diverse geographies

"Key Insight

Energy reliability is the primary unlock for micro-enterprise income growth. But for scalability of program, integrations of reliable energy with enterprise systems and financing structure is critical.
